American Airlines Reports December Traffic

American Airlines, a subsidiary of AMR Corp (NYSE:AMR), announced that it carried 7.1 million passengers in December 2009, down 2.8% compared to the same period of the prior year.
Revenue passenger miles for the month dropped by 1.6% compared to December 2008, while available seat miles fell by 3.3%, resulting in an increase in load factor of 1.4 percentage points at 80.6%.
Cargo ton miles for December 2009 rose by 12.5% compared to the same month of the previous year.
